Case study
A UX/UI redesign of the subsidy application portal for Gilde-BT, built during my internship at Gilde-BT, focused on making it immediately clear what needs attention and simple to submit and track a subsidy application.

Administrators at Gilde-BT faced a lot of complaints from users that use the portal that the complexity of the application was causing confusion and delays in processing subsidy applications. They mainly mentioned that it just wasn't effective and sometimes very frustrating to use due to the many cliks needed to come to a conclusion. The administrators themselves also noticed that different wording and styles where being used on different pages, leading to even more frustration and confusion. The new portal needed to fix these issues.
I redesigned the portal around one question: "What makes this easy to use and effective". By surfacing open actions with their deadline and current phase front and center, and giving every application a clear, color-coded status (action needed, in progress, completed) that's scannable at a glance. Each users applications, activity history, and payouts now live together on one profile page instead of being scattered. For submitting a new application, I turned the form into a guided multi-step flow with a visible progress stepper and a clear review-before-you-submit step, so users always know where they are and what's left to do. This makes the transparency towards the user a lot better.
The redesigned portal gives Gilde-BT's client organizations a clear, at-a-glance overview of what needs their attention and a guided, low-friction way to submit and track subsidy applications. This replaces a process that previously required piecing information together across multiple screens.
